~ BASTION VIEW~
Uploaded: August 04, 2010 06:49:50
The bastions built on this fort, that much resembles those on a castle, are located on the northeast and southwest corners of the fort. This view overlooks the fort complex from the southwest bastion. The bastions were built for defense and protection of the fort. The watchtower, with its flagpole attached, served as a guard post above the main gate of the fort. Although each round bastion was equipped with a swivel cannon, the cannons were never used for defense, but used for signaling and welcoming arriving trade caravans. As with the first image in this series of images, the fort does in fact look like an ancient castle, with a little southwest adobe flair.... HAVE A SPLENDID DAY!!!
